About Us

Our Team

Our team of local SCUBA diving experts, instructors and divemasters love our home here on the shores of the Andaman Sea. They have worked on and in this sea for years, in some cases decades.

They have the experience, they know the sea, the islands, the dive sites and the fish and creatures that inhabit the reefs.

They are passionate about showing their students and fun diving customers the beauty of Krabi’s underwater world whilst caring for this environment for the future generations of Local Divers.

We are local and while we want to share our enthusiasm for the wonder and the beauty of it we are also committed to take care of it.

In joining with other like minded locals and organisations we play an active role in protecting reefs and the shore line. We remove rubbish and debris from local beaches and from the reefs during our frequent dive trips and with regular organised clean up events.

Diving with a Mission

We are a member of Green Fins and we proudly partner with Trash Hero and Green Guardians to protect our precious marine environment.

Join our regular beach clean-ups, participate in underwater debris collection during your dives, or for experienced divers, help us recover abandoned fishing nets that threaten marine life. Every dive with us contributes to cleaner, healthier oceans – because we believe adventure and responsibility go hand in hand.

“TRASH HERO is an energetic, volunteer-led movement that drives change within communities around the world, motivating and supporting them to clean and prevent plastic waste.”

Trash Hero Ao Nang holds weekly beach cleanups every Sunday from 10 – 12, we participate and so can you.

Green Guardians

The Green Guardians Association is devoted to ecological preservation and regeneration. Locally they organise educational field trips for schools and all locals. They are actively in involved with recording and measuring the health of the local seas and the coral reefs. Their projects include sea grass beds, mangrove and coral reef regeneration by developing nurseries and re-planting.

Local Diving actively participates with reef clean up, this may involve carefully collecting typical rubbish that’s accumulating in bays or on sea beds, sometimes it involves the co-ordinated removal or large items of rubbish and discarded trawler nets.

If you’re a an experienced diver you can participate too.

Green Fins

Krabi Local Diving is a member of Green Fins which aims to protect coral reefs through environmentally friendly guidelines promoting sustainable diving and snorkelling.

The Green Fins Mission Statement is:
“To protect and conserve coral reefs by establishing and implementing environmentally friendly guidelines to promote a sustainable diving and snorkelling tourism industry.”

Green Fins provides a proven conservation management approach which leads to a measurable reduction in the negative environmental impacts associated with marine tourism.

Their conservation management principles are implemented internationally by The Reef-World Foundation and the UN Environment Programme and by us at Local Diving.

At the dive centre and out on diving trips, our team of instructors and dive guides follow the Green Fins principles and ensure that we are all aware of what we can do to avoid any negative impacts on the natural environments.
