Advanced Open Water Diver
During the Advanced Open Water Diver Program, you will experience 5 different advanced training dives after a comprehensive briefing with your SSI Instructor.
You will try Deep Diving and Navigation plus 3 more advanced training dives from a range of subjects. It is a great way to experience what advanced diver training is all about and how valuable it can be to your diving adventures.
By taking this program you will have total freedom to explore. You can complete more Specialty training courses any time in the future and credit your Advanced Open Water Diver training dives towards them.

React Right
React Right is SSI’s emergency first response course and provides you with the training and knowledge you need to act as a first responder in a medical emergency.
In this program, you can learn about; first aid primary assessment, CPR and primary stabilization techniques. You can also learn about oxygen administration in diving emergencies and Automated External Defibrillator (AED) basics.
Completion of this course or a similar first aid certification within the last 24 months is a prerequisite to starting the Diver Stress & Rescue Course.

Diver Stress and Rescue
The SSI Diver Stress and Rescue Specialty takes your diving skills beyond basic training and focuses on one of the most important aspects of diving; keeping yourself and others safe in the water.
During the course, you will learn how to recognise and manage stress, prevent accidents, and respond to a range of diving emergencies. Practical training covers self-rescue skills, assisting tired or stressed divers, emergency planning, and rescue procedures for more serious situations. By practising these skills in both confined and open water environments, you will gain valuable experience and confidence that can be applied on every dive.
Many divers consider this course to be the most rewarding specialty they complete because it develops both confidence and competence. Upon successful completion, you will earn the SSI Diver Stress and Rescue Specialty certification.

Advanced Training Dives and Specialty Course Options
Deep Diving
The SSI Deep Diving Specialty lets you safely explore beyond the typical recreational diving limits and discover a whole new underwater environment. You will learn how depth affects your body, equipment, and dive planning while developing the skills and techniques needed for deeper dives.
Navigaton
The SSI Navigation Specialty teaches you the skills needed to confidently find your way underwater and make your dives more organised. You will develop techniques for setting headings, estimating distances, and returning to specific locations. Increase your confidence, and become more independent when exploring new dive sites.
Perfect Buoyancy
The SSI Perfect Buoyancy Specialty helps you improve your control, balance, and positioning in the water, essential skills that will improve with every future dive. This specialty is for all divers who want to master SCUBA diving, gain confidence and control underwater while also improving air consumption and protecting the marine life they come to enjoy.
Photo & Video
Learn practical techniques for taking photos and video underwater, including camera setup, buoyancy and positioning, lighting, composition, and managing equipment while diving. The course focuses on producing clearer, more effective underwater images and video without compromising buoyancy, safety, or awareness of your surroundings.
Search & Recovery
Learn how to plan and conduct underwater search and recovery dives using search patterns, lines, reels, lift bags, and other specialised equipment. The course develops practical search, recovery, communication, and dive-planning skills for locating and safely recovering objects underwater.
Night Diving*
Learn the techniques needed for safe diving after dark or in limited visibility, including the use of dive lights, communication, entry and exit procedures, and maintaining awareness of your buddy and surroundings. The course provides practical experience in adapting normal diving skills to reduced-light conditions.
Marine Ecology
This course helps you appreciate the complexity of coral reef habitats and teaches how you can help conserve these complex and vital systems.
Anyone who has an interest in the underwater world can take this course. There are no prerequisites or age restrictions and no water sessions are required to earn this non-diving certification.
Cavern Diving*
Learn the procedures and skills required for limited-penetration diving in caverns and other overhead environments. Training covers specialised equipment and techniques, line use, navigation, buoyancy, and team procedures for conducting controlled, no-decompression cavern dives.
Wreck Diving*
Learn the techniques required to safely dive around wrecks and artificial reefs without entering the interior. The course covers wreck orientation, navigation, buoyancy, equipment configuration, and practical procedures for planning and conducting non-penetration wreck dives.
